Shop operators who rent space under 30 square meters will use the grant for rent assistance and utility payments. A clothing store owner near the north exit of the station, for example, can submit receipts for the previous three months of electricity charges as part of the required documentation.
The 2026 ward budget paper lists 120 million yen allocated to the grant program. This figure exceeds Meguro ward's published allocation of 95 million yen but falls short of Shinjuku ward's 145 million yen line item for the same national program.
Applications open on 1 August 2026 through the ward office website and in-person counters at the main municipal building. Staff will review submissions within 30 days, with payments scheduled for October for approved cases.
